Zirakpur, December 8
Three persons have been arrested in separate cases registered under the Excise Act at the Zirakpur police station.
The police here on Friday arrested Varinder Verma, a resident of Uttarakhand, and Amarinder Singh, a resident of Mani Majra, Chandigarh, at a naka laid here. The duo was coming towards the Zirakpur side in their car bearing Punjab’s registration number. Their vehicle was stopped for checking at the naka.
The police arrested them following the recovery of 12 boxes of illicit liquor from their possession.
In another incident, the police arrested Shahnawaz Khan, a resident of Bihar, presently putting up in Chandigarh, for carrying 15 bottles of illicit liquor in Zirakpur. Further probe is on.
