Three women arrested for snatching bid on 70-yr-old

CHANDIGARH:Three women have been arrested for trying to snatch a gold chain from a 70-year-old woman while riding an auto.

Three women have been arrested for trying to snatch a gold chain from a 70-year-old woman while riding an auto.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Sangeeta, Sandhaya and Preety, were arrested by a team led by Inspector Ranjit Singh, SHO, Mani Majra police station. 

Sumitra Devi, a resident of Mani Majra, had gone to Sector 45 to get medicines from a doctor. She took an auto-rickshaw on her way back home from the Mani Majra bus stand. In the meantime, three women signalled the auto to stop and boarded it.

The police said one of the accused started talking with the victim while another covered the victim’s neck with a stole, the third accused then tried to cut the gold chain the victim was wearing. The victim got alert and raised the alarm. The police party, which was already patrolling in the area, nabbed the accused at the spot.

All three women were arrested and a case against them was registered at the Mani Majra police station.
