Lion & Lioness Club of Panchkula Premier along with their youth wing Leo Club Tricity organised a free vision testing camp at Tribune Model School, Sector 29, Chandigarh on Thursday.

Lion & Lioness Club of Panchkula Premier along with their youth wing Leo Club Tricity organised a free vision testing camp at Tribune Model School, Sector 29, Chandigarh on Thursday. During the camp, testing was done with an eye-testing machine, procured by JLPL from Germany. Within two hours, over 300 children were tested and those needing special assistance in eye care were brought to the notice of the school for further investigation and consultation. The chief guest on the occasion was Ravi Mehra (District Governor). Chairperson of this camp SS Bhamra told the school authorities and children about the importance of timely examination of the eyes.

Mount Carmel

Van Mahotsava week was celebrated at Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh. The Eco and Environment Club of Mount Carmel School organised a slogan-writing competition and conducted a tree plantation drive on the school campus during the Van Mahotsava week. Principal Praveena John Singh said, “He who plants a tree, plants a hope.”

AKSIPS-45

Tiny tots of AKSIPS-45, Chandigarh, enjoyed learning about healthy habits through a special programme. Short stories by teachers reinforced the concept. The programme ended with rhyme singing on healthy habits.

Ankur School

A workshop on “Demystifying emotional intelligence and understanding the link between thoughts, feelings and actions” was held at Ankur School, Sector 14, Chandigarh. The workshop was conducted by the Mind and Heart Foundation.

St Joseph’s, Sector 44 

Students of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Chandigarh, disseminated the theme of this year’s World Population Day — Family planning is a human right — by conducting various events. Eco-Club students participated in slogan-writing, poster-making and mask-making contests. They also conducted a rally to create awareness among people.

Gian Jyoti Global, Mohali

Students of Gian Jyoti Global School, Mohali, brought laurels to the school by winning three gold medals, two silver and one bronze medal at the 43rd Junior Punjab State Swimming and Water Polo Championship held at Jalandhar. Gurvir Kaur of Class XI (Non-Medical) won two silver medals in 4x200m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay. She also won one bronze medal in 4x100m freestyle relay.

The Gurukul, Panchkula

It was truly nostalgic when Devir Singh Bhandari, alumni of The Gurukul, Sector 20, Panchkula, visited the school and interacted with students. He is the chairman of the DSB Group and also heading his film production house. After several internships at ABP News and Yash Raj Films, Mumbai, Devir’s filmmaking venture took a flight with ‘Celebrating Life’, a film made for an international workshop on cancer awareness. Devir is a recipient of Human Achievers Award and was also awarded the ‘Exceptional Leaders of Excellence’ at W.E.F in New Delhi. He will soon be seen on the big screen in his film, “Gama in the land of Lama”, which is under production for Cannes Festival.

Blue Bird High School 

Tiny tots of Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula, visited the Traffic Park in Sector 12, Panchkula. The teachers accompanying them gave a live demonstration as to how to cross the road safely at zebra crossing and about traffic signals.

Dikshant Global, Zirakpur

On World Population Day, 15 students of Dikshant Global School, VIP Road, Zirakpur, staged a street play, “Bacche mann ke sachhe”, at the Sector 7 Market here, to highlight the menace of growing population. The play underlined the peril of increasing population in the country and its impact. Students touched upon various issues that we are facing due to population growth. TNS
