The Special Task Force, Mohali, has arrested two persons after 52 kg of poppy husk was recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Manga Singh, a resident of Gow village in Khanna, and Kulvir Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib.
According to Rajinder Singh Sohal, Superintendent of Police (SP), Special Task Force, the accused were intercepted when they were coming from the Zirakpur side in a four-wheeler.
“During their search, we have recovered 52-kg poppy husk from their possession. The accused have confessed that they used to supply narcotics in the area,” said the SP.
Manga Singh is a truck driver, who used to charge Rs5,000 per round from Kulvir for driving his truck.
The duo came into the drug business to make quick bucks.
A case under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at the Special Task Force police station in Phase 4.
