Zirakpur: The police arrested two persons and recovered 600 gm opium from their possession during a naka at Dhakoli on Thursday.



Zirakpur: The police arrested two persons and recovered 600 gm opium from their possession during a naka at Dhakoli on Thursday. The arrested persons have been identified as Parvinder Singh and Ranjeet Singh, both residents of Lalru.  As per information, the Dhakoli police laid a naka near Dhakoli-t point when two accused riding a motorcycle was signalled to stop. During checking, the police recovered 600 gm opium and arrested the accused on the spot. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, has been registered against the accused at Dhakoli police station. The police have procured one-day police remand of the two accused to interrogate them further. OC

Dasehra celebrated

Chandigarh: Dasehra, the festival of victory of good over evil was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Ankur School, Sector 14, Chandigarh. Principal Dr Parminder Duggal highlighted the importance of the festival and students presented colourful dances. Cultural programme was also organised on the occasion. Students presented dance and short play. The Principal also honored the students who won various sports events. An effigy of the Ravana was also set ablaze. Students were seen dressed up as Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita. TNS

Chandigarh:The Kindergarten students of Petals, a unit of PML SD Public School, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh, celebrated Dasehra. They drew posters of different characters from the Ramayana.
