A local court has sentenced two men to one-year imprisonment for stalking a woman three years ago. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 500 each on the convicts, Himanshu Bhagal and Sanambir Singh.

The matter dates back to April 2, 2015, when the accused followed the woman in their car when she went to a market in Sector 38 (West). She was purchasing some household articles and while she was returning home, the convicts made obscene gestures at her. She called up her father and informed him. The father then caught hold of both of them and approached the police. A case was registered against the duo under Sections 354 D and 509 of the IPC.

After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court held the duo guilty of stalking, but acquitted them of charges of making obscene gestures as the prosecution failed to prove it.
