Two-week cultural bonanza kicks off

PATIALA:The Patiala Heritage Festival kicked off at Sheesh Mahal here today.

The Patiala Heritage Festival kicked off at Sheesh Mahal here today. The two-week festival was inaugurated by the former Union Minister Preneet Kaur.  The event will showcase the cultural heritage of Patiala from February 19 to March 3. 

The festival is a brainchild of CM Capt Amarinder Singh. Besides musical programmes at Quila Mubarak, handicraft items will be on display at Sheesh Mahal.  Inaugurating the festival, Preneet Kaur said, “Chief  Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and the district administration have once again done a great job by organising this cultural fest. I,  hereby, invite the people of Patiala and Punjab to enjoy this great  cultural fest.”   

Artisans to turn up 

  • Over 150 artisans will be part of the crafts mela during the programme. Events like aeromodelling, stunt biking, heritage walk, cycle rally and polo match besides a flower and food festival will be a part of the programme. 
  • “Satgur Nanak Pargateya”, a light-and-sound show on the janam sakhis of Guru Nanak Dev, will be held at the NIS. 

Full of music & dance 

  • Top names in the world of music will perform during the festival. Those who will perform during the fest are Pt Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Kaushiki Chakravorty, Ustad Irshad Khan, Nishant Khan Wajahat Khan and Wasifudin Khan.
  • Performances by Manganiar from Rajasthan, singers Jasbir Jassi and Ammy Virk will also be a part of the cultural treat.
