Two women steal shopper’s purse

CHANDIGARH: Two unidentified women stole a purse of a woman while she was shopping in the Sector 19 market.



Chandigarh, October 17

Two unidentified women stole a purse of a woman while she was shopping in the Sector 19 market. The purse, containing cash and documents, was kept in a handbag.

According to the police, Senorita Gupta, a resident of Sector 19, was shopping at a stall in the market when two women arrived and stood behind her. The duo covered the handbag Gupta was carrying under a stole and managed to secretly pull the purse out of it.

As per the complainant, the wallet contained Rs 4,000, a debit and credit card, a driving licence and some documents.

The victim came to know about the incident later and informed the police. A case of theft was registered at the Sector 19 police station and an investigation was initiated. The police said the incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed at the market. The two suspects are seen committing the crime and walking away, said a police official. — TNS
