Use digital apps

It is shocking to know that agenda papers for Senate meets cost the PU Rs 50 lakh last year and the expenditure will be rising in near future if something credible is not done in the nick of time. Instead of giving tablets to staff, an app should be made exclusively for the staff and digital security should be maintained with the help of user name. This will save a lot of money as production of tablets would cost a lot of money and expenditure would shoot up. This digital app should be available on all app stores. A deadline should be set up for every work and no excuses should be entertained because delay in work also adds to the expenditure. A separate panel should be given this responsibility to keep a tab on expenses and take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the healthy structure of revenue. Electricity expenses should be cut because these days with the growing use of ACs, electricity bills are mounting. The university can give its spare buildings and other halls on rent to other institutions on a contractual basis that will be responsible for all repair works and this will help in earning handsome revenue.

Need to work on de-silting

The rain that lashed the city in the past few days brought much-needed respite from the scorching heat, but left the tricity in a mess with clogged drains, choked sewerage pipes and waterlogged roads. Heavy rain threw normal life out of gear in several parts of the tricity. There was a flood-like situation in the low-lying areas. Passers-by had to wade through knee-deep water on roads. Sewerage system in most of the areas remains faulty and residents witnessed flood-like situation. Pumping of water appears to be very slow. The civic authorities claimed that all drains had been cleaned, but the ground reality revealed a different picture. There is need to work on de-silting and all other corrective measures. Cleaning of road gullies should have been completed before the monsoon.

Footpaths cry for repair

Footpaths along the stretch of the main road from the traffic light point up to the dispensary T-junction in Sector 20, Panchkula, have been crying for re-laying/repair for months. This road needs better illumination with high-intensity LED lamps. Metalling of a new road passing along Kundi village in this sector to connect the EssVee Apartments area directly with the main highway needs to be expedited. The MC Administrator’s apathy towards this sector of the former Mayor, who remained at loggerheads with him, does not behove his present status.
