Ambala, February 19

Health Minister Anil Vij and Divisional Railway Manager Dinesh Chandra Sharma, along with other railway and district officials, inspected the Ambala Cantonment railway station today.

During inspection, the minister directed railway officials to pay some more attention to security, beautification and basic amenities at the station.

Speaking to mediapersons, Vij said, “The Railways has carried out development works at the station. The Ambala station has many entry and exit points and there is a need to seal some of the points by raising walls. A toilet at platform number 1 is in good condition but there is a need to construct such toilets on remaining platforms too as one toilet is not sufficient for so many passengers.”

The minister directed officials of the Government Railway Police (GRP) to deploy more personnel at the entry and exit points and strengthen the security at the station. He also suggested them to improve the outer look of the station and increase greenery at the station.

The minister also enquired about the status of the proposed railway under bridge at Shahpur and two railway over bridges at Nanhera and Machhonda. He asked the officials to expedite the work.

The DRM informed the minister that the General Manager, Northern Railway, had been requested to consider the Division when the next rakes of semi-high speed Train 18 (Vande Bharat Express) get ready so that the train could be introduced on the Delhi-Kalka section.

The DRM said beautification work was being carried out at the railway station and as per the directions of the minister, the security would be strengthened further.
