Woman dupes youth of Rs15 lakh, booked

CHANDIGARH: A woman has been booked by the local police for allegedly duping a youth of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of sending him to the USA.



Chandigarh, April 16

A woman has been booked by the local police for allegedly duping a youth of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of sending him to the USA.

According to the police, complainant Ravi Kumar, a resident of Sector 7, alleged that the woman, Vishnu, residing in his neighborhood, came in his contact and promised to send him abroad.

The suspect asked the victim to pay Rs 15 lakh following which he transferred the money to the woman on different occasions.

After taking the money and documents from the victim, the suspect stopped taking his calls. “The victim could not contact the suspect after December 30 last year,” said a police official.

The victim approached the police following which a case of cheating was registered against the woman at the Sector 26 police station. — TNS
