Patiala, December 4

Paramjit Kaur (26), was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws in Mandiana village on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

The suspects have been identified as, Kuldeep Singh (husband), Satnam Singh (brother-in-law), Balwinder Singh (father-in-law), Krishna Devi (mother-in-law) and Nandu (wife of Satnam Singh).

Balkar Singh, father of the victim, complained to the police that they had received a phone call that her daughter was very ill, but when they reached her in-law’s residence they found her dead.

Balkar said there were strangulation marks on the neck of Paramjit and claimed that her daughter’s husband, Kuldeep Singh, was alcoholic and would beat Paramjit regularly.

He said, “Paramjit’s body had marks, which indicated that she was strangulated. Kuldeep is an alcoholic and he often used to beat my daughter.”

The victim was cremated on Wednesday after conducting her post-mortem. No arrests have been made so far.

The police informed that Kuldeep had married Paramjit around seven years ago.

Kheri Gandian Station House Officer said, “We have registered a case and the investigation is underway. No arrests have been made so far, however, raids are being conducted to nab the suspects.”

The police have booked the suspects under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
