While there are some who hardly travel a few metres to cast their votes, a group of youngsters from the city working in different cities have shown the way to others. They have reached the city from hundreds of kilometres to play their role in choosing the next government. They studied in the city and still think they have close affinity with it.

Rohit Pardasani (33) is pursuing Masters in Indian Institute of Science from Bengaluru. He, along with her sister, decided to come to the city to cast their vote. “When we can come home to celebrate festivals, why shy from coming home to participate in the ‘Festival of Democracy’”? said Rohit.

Priyanka Pardasani (31), sister of Rohit, is working as an HR manager with PepsiCo India, Mumbai. Priyanka, who studied from Panjab University, said: “I want to make sure that I play my part in choosing the right government.”

Subhankar Padhi (32), who is working with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, said her wife Ankita Bagchi was keen to come to Chandigarh to cast vote. Ankita, working as an HR manager with Nestle, Gurgaon, said staying away from hometown should not be an excuse to not to vote. Ankita studied from the PU.

Subhankar said: “If we can travel for leisure, why not to travel to cast your vote”.
