Chandigarh: A 28-year-old youth has been arrested by the Mani Majra police for house theft. The police said Anandita Ghosh had complained that a theft was reported at her house on July 5. A case was registered and later her neighbour Suraj was arrested for theft on July 10. Rs 1,000 snatched
Chandigarh: A pedestrian escaped after snatching Rs 1,000 in cash from a man. Sources said the incident took place near the Shastri Nagar light point. The police were informed about the incident. The police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. TNS
2 held for stealing batteries
Chandigarh: Two persons have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for stealing batteries from three cars in Sector 24 on intervening night of July 11 and 12. Complainant Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Sector 24, had complained that three batteries were stolen. Later, two persons, identified as Suraj and Shyam, both residents of Sector 24, were arrested. Hit by train, man dies
Zirakpur: A 45-year-old man died after being hit by a train near Dhakoli railway crossing on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Ramlal, a resident of Kathgarh village near Dhakoli. According to GRP sources, they got information about 2 am that a body was lying near the railway track. The team was rushed to the spot and took the body into its custody. The deceased is suspected to have been killed while crossing the railway track, the GRP sources said. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after conducting a post-mortem examination. OC
Mechanic electrocuted
Dera Bassi: A 42-year-old man was electrocuted to death here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Kuranwala village, Dera Bassi. According to sources, the incident took place on Friday morning when the victim, who works as a mechanic, went to the washroom. Sunil was electrocuted when he came in contact with a dessert cooler while returning from the washroom. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where doctors declared him brought dead. OC
