A 24-year-old youth has been awarded a two-year jail term for riding a stolen scooter, which had a fake number plate.
The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Mamta Kakkar also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the convict, Shera.
The complainant, Head Constable Surinder Singh, had stated that during checking at a naka near Sector 43-A, a youth coming on a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet was seen taking a U-turn in haste. He was nabbed and was not find carrying documents of the scooter. He confessed that he had stolen the two-wheeler from Sector 20 on Janmashtami. He had also replaced the number plate with a fake one.
A case was registered against Shera on September 20, 2017, and he was arrested. — TNS
