New Delhi, April 17

Four persons were arrested for killing a friend for an old enmity in Neb Sarai today, said a police official. The incident took place on Monday.

The Neb Sarai Police Station took up the investigation after two days when the victim's family lodged a complaint.

However, the DCP (South) said two accused Golu and Ravinder Bisht are still absconding for which efforts are on to nab them.

Surjit Kashyap, 22, a resident Jwahar Park, went missing on April 15. His elder brother Amit Kashyap lodged a missing complaint with the police and said his mobile was also switched off since he was going missing.

On April 15 Surjit returned from his work and after a while, he got a call from one of his friends and he left the home. Since then he has not come back.

During investigation the police got to know that the body of boy was found in a pit. The body was in a shallow ditch and covered with some leaves and other trash lying there, the DCP said.

Surjit was first stabbed and then strangled to death. After the body was recovered, the call details of the victim was examined on which his four friends Somveer Singhal, who works as school cab driver, Vicky Jha, who is a helper in Max Hospital (Saket), Satbeer, an unemployed, and Vick Bhatt, who works as data entry operator, have been identified. On the basis of this, the four were apprehended, the DCP said.

During interrogation, Satbeer admitted that Singhal and Jha had an old enmity with the victim who had beaten them a few years ago and the two were holding the grudge since then.

Allegedly Surjit used to bully and threaten Singhal. On April 15 they knew that Surjit was sitting alone in a lonely area, he said.

The accused reached the spot and challenged him and during the scuffle, first they stabbed him and then strangled him to death. The knife used in the crime has also been recovered, the DCP added.
