Gang of Metro thieves busted; three women held

NEW DELHI:The police (Metro Unit) have arrested three women thieves Rita (45), Poonam (22) and Suman (22), all residents of Anand Parbat, said a police official.

The police (Metro Unit) have arrested three women thieves Rita (45), Poonam (22) and Suman (22), all residents of Anand Parbat, said a police official.

On August 7, complainant P Revathi (28), along with her sister and sister-in-law, travelling in a Metro train.

The train was crowded. They were carrying their bags on their shoulders. At the Indraprastha Metro Station, three women boarded the train and stood along with Revathi.

When they deboarded the train at the Akshardham Metro Station, Revathi realised that the zip of her and her sister's bags were open. When they checked the bags eight gold bangles worth Rs 2.4 lakh and Rs 30,000 were found stolen, said the DCP (Metro).

During investigation, CCTV camera footage analysed and police zeroed in on a gang of three women. 

Today, the police arrested all three women and recovered the stolen items and money, the DCP said. — TNS
