Three persons, Mithilesh Verma (45), his wife Siya Verma and their daughter, Neha (16) were found murdered in their house at Kishangarh near Vasant Kunj of Southwest Delhi. Their son, Suraj, sustained injuries, said police.
The police said that the victims were stabbed to death. Stab injuries are visible on their bodies.
After being informed by neighbours, police reached the three-room house at 5:20 am and identified the bodies.
The bodies of Neha and Siya were found in one room while Mithlesh's body was found in another. The weapon used for commission of the crime has been recovered, police said.
Mithilesh , a contractor, was living with his family in the house for the past 18 years. Suraj is pursuing civil engineering from a private college in Gurugram, while Neha was a Class IX student of a private school in Vasant Kunj, said Mithilesh 's elder brother Chandra Bhan. Locals said Mithlesh had seen abject poverty before establishing himself professionally.
"I got a call from my family members in Kannauj at 5.30 am. Mithilesh's neighbours had informed them. I rushed to check on them and found the bodies lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries," Bhan said, adding that it was a "cold-blooded murder".
He, however, did not suspect any personal enmity behind the killings.
According to a senior police officer, the entire house was ransacked, but no valuables were found missing. Eight police teams have been formed to probe the case.
Suraj, who was in the house at the time of the incident, told police that two men barged into the house to commit robbery and stabbed his family. He claimed to have lost consciousness out of fear, the police said.
Police are interrogating Suraj as there are some discrepancies in his statement.
