New Delhi, April 19

The police have arrested two gamblers turned security providers at gambling points for possessing illegal weapons, said a police official.

The police team had been chasing the criminals involved in organised crime activities in the area.

The team had been pursuing the criminals to bring them into clutches of the law.

On April 18, the team got information that two criminals possessing illegal weapons and previously involved in criminal cases are roaming in Dwarka Sector-10 near Transport Authority, the official said.

The team laid a trap and two persons with suspicious activities were spotted but they tried to run away.

Eventually, they were controlled and interrogated, said the official.

They were identified as Waseem (25) and Deepu (27). While Waseem was found in possession of one 0.32" pistol and one live round, Deepu was also found in possession of one country-made pistol with one live round and were arrested.

According to police, during interrogation, the duo said due to heightened security for the Lok Sabha polls, all illegal casinos had shut shop in Delhi. Out of work, they decided to rob people.
