Two drug traffickers held

NEW DELHI:Two accused persons — Ashwani Kumar (40), resident of Barabanki (UP) and Hoshiyar Singh (20) resident of Hoshiyarpur (Punjab) — have been arrested by Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch and 125 kg of poppy straw have been recovered from them.

Two accused persons — Ashwani Kumar (40), resident of Barabanki (UP) and Hoshiyar Singh (20) resident of Hoshiyarpur (Punjab) — have been arrested by Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch and 125 kg of poppy straw have been recovered from them.

The seized drug was meant to supply to truck drivers in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Badli here.

On October 10, on receipt of an information, the Narcotics Cell laid a trap at Libaspur Bus Stand and on the instance of the informer, both accused were arrested from there with 25 kg of poppy straw which they were carrying in their scooty, police said.

On the instance of the accused, another consignment of 100 kg poppy straw was recovered from their rented premises in village Siraspur here, they said.

Accused disclosed that their master Surinder, resident of Punjab, had procured the consignment from Rajasthan and stored the same at the rented premises provided by Surinder, said Addl Commissioner of Police Dr Ajit Kumar Singla. — TNS
