Jalandhar: ‘IT Spark’ 2018, a two-day inter-house competition concluded at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar’ on Saturday. The event was organised by the Post Graduate Department of Computer Science and IT of the college. As many as 566 students of the department belonging to six houses, competed in 25 events. Abacus House secured the first position. Gopher House clinched the second position and Sigma House bagged the third position. Principal of the College, Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra was the chief guest on the occasion. He, along with HoD of the department, Dr Manohar Singh, gave away prizes to the winners. Dr Manohar Singh congratulated the participants and the faculty members for organisation the event. TNS

Golden meet organised

Phagwara: DIPS UE-1 organised  ‘Golden meet’ for students of Class V to VIII on the school premises.  The function was attended by the Chairman of DIPS chain of institutions S Gurbachan Singh and CEO, Monica Mandotra. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of lamp. A mega show based on the cultural heritage of India, featuring the famous dynasties was organised. Students of Class V G showcased the valiant Maharana Partap, VI G on Jhansi ki Rani, VII G Shiva Ji and VIII G on Tipu Sultan. Students presented cultural events on the occasion. Principal Neelu Bawa highlighted the  achievements of students. TNS

Professor gets award

Phagwara: Dr Surbhi Sharma, Assistant Prof of  the Department of Physics, of KMV received ‘Best Paper Presentation Award’ at an International Conference on Science and Technology Research (ICSTR- Barcelona) organised by the Scientific and Technology Research Association (STRA) at Campus de la Ciutadella, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain. Dr Surbhi was the only speaker from the country, who participated in the conference. She presented her research work. Explaining about her work, she told that her research work reports the thermal characterisation of quaternary chalcogenide glass system. TNS
