In its drive against the vector-borne diseases under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’, the anti-larvae cell of the Health Department spotted 22 dengue larvae cases in various areas of the city on Tuesday.
Five teams, led by Raj Kumar, Balwinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh and Gurpal Singh, carried out checking at Kabir Nagar, Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Basti Bawa Khel, Nehru Garden, and the Civil Hospital.
During the checking, the teams detected 14 cases of dengue larvae in Kabir Nagar and eight cases in Basti Bawa Khel. The teams also issued 10 challans at Kabir Nagar.
The teams covered an area of 940 houses, checked 70 air coolers and 86 containers. They also carried out spray in 98 rooms of these localities. The team distributed 2,000 chlorine tablets among the residents.
The team members apprised the residents that these places could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes and spread diseases like dengue, malaria and others.
