Annual sports meet held

Kapurthala: The much-awaited annual sports meet of MGN Public School commenced on Thursday.



Kapurthala: The much-awaited annual sports meet of MGN Public School commenced on Thursday. The chief guest of the day was Amrik Singh, Associate Prof (Physical Education) Sant Prem Singh Karamsar Khalsa College, Begowal, Kapurthala. The programme commenced with the march past. Principal Rashmi Sharma, along with the Chief Guest took the salute. Balloons were released to mark the spirit of freedom and celebration of life. Many field and track events were held on the occasion. Various races like 100m, 200m, 400 m, and relay races were organised for U-9, U-17 and U-14 for boys and girls category. Long jump and discus throw competitions were also held. For tiny tots, races like parachute race, butterfly race and train race were held.

Navy Day’ organised

Jalandhar: A tribute was paid at Eklavya School to the veteran sailors who fought for the country.The day commenced with a speech by senior students, who also sang patriotic songs to celebrate the greatness, glory and role of the Navy to the country. The day was celebrated by showing videos of Navy officer which shows that how every type of Navy Officer has all the responsibility of handling and tackling all the situations of the junior Navy, and they are trained by the senior Navy officers for managing every task properly. Principal Arvinder Kaur said, “We all should respect all the Navy officers so as to understand that how Navy plays an important role in securing the marine borders as well as for the betterment of international relations.”

‘Poetry By Heart’ competition

Jalandhar: Beauty is The Realm of Poetry—Considering the beauty of expression and to add tremendously to self-esteem of young learners and to enhance their verbal skills, a poetry writing competition was organised at HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School, in which students got an opportunity to exhibit their talent by giving words to their thoughts and feelings with the touch of poetic rhyme and rhythm. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen appreciated the students for displaying their creativity and poetical endeavour and motivated them to explore vistas and avenues that would nurture their hidden skills. School Coordinator Meenakshi Syal also encouraged the students for maximum participation with strong competitive spirit to win accolades in all arenas. Around 50 students participated in self-composed competition. The students also participated in poster making competition. Vaishnavi got the first position and Milan bagged the second position. Srishti got the first position in poetry writing (English category). Vaishnavi clinched the first position and Megha won the second position in (Hindi category). Gagandeep Kaur got the first position (Punjabi category).

Annual Day celebrated with gusto

Jalandhar: Annual day was celebrated in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public School. Navjot Singh Mahal, SSP, Jalandhar (Rural), was the chief guest on the occasion. A cultural programme based on the theme ‘Shikhar’ with a scintillating ’Welcome dance’ was performed by Class VII students with the message of ‘Parivartan’. Class IX performance was a street play with a message on the judicious use of social media. Classes with their performances highlighted the importance of merriment and that every child has its own individuality and every child must be given a chance to grow. After the prize distribution, the token of love was given to the dignitaries and vote of thanks was followed by’ fusion of bhangra and giddha. The programme culminated with the National Anthem.

Quiz competition organised

Phagwara: Bharat Vikas Parishad, Phagwara, organised State-Level ‘Bharat Ko Jaano’ quiz competition at DAV School, Bilga. After successfully qualifying for the state-level, the junior team of Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara, clinched the first position in the competition at state-level also. The team has been selected for the Regional- Level Competition, which will be held on December 8, in Jammu. The junior state-level team was represented by Vansh Duggal and Ashesh Kapoor. A total number of 18 school teams participated in the event. There were 3 qualifying rounds and in the final round 7 teams participated in the event. Anju Mehta, principal, congratulated the students and wished them good luck for the future.

Goonj ‘School to School’ initiative

Jalandhar: Delhi Public School, Jalandhar, made valuable donations for a good cause in association with ‘Goonj, an Ngo. The students and staff members made donations in the form of various school supplies like books, notebooks, bags and various stationery items like pens, and pencils. School kits were created for distribution among rural children to bridge the gap between urban and rural population by providing them with equal opportunities. The spirit of compassion and sharing shown by children is praiseworthy. The initiative aimed at turning urban surplus into a massive resource for poverty alleviation and rural development especially aiming at education. As a part of this initiative, Delhi Public School, Jalandhar, is one of the thousands of schools in 35 cities across the country engaged in the civic campaign.
