Cadets learn discipline, leadership at NCC camp

HOSHIARPUR: As many as 429 NCC cadets, including girl cadets from various colleges and schools of the Doaba region, participated in a10-day annual training camp of 12 Punjab battalion NCC Hoshiarpur.

As many as 429 NCC cadets, including girl cadets from various colleges and schools of the Doaba region, participated in a10-day annual training camp of 12 Punjab battalion NCC Hoshiarpur. In routine, training and handling of weapons, firing of weapons, drill, map reading, first aid, National integration, civil defence, and development of leadership qualities was also imparted to the cadets.

An exercise to make students less dependent on cell phones and help them carry out their work without any help of cell phones was also done. A lecture on hygiene was also held, along with other seminars and workshops conducted in the camp. The aim of the camp was to generate values of self-discipline and integrity in order to cultivate the art of leadership.

Moreover, selected cadets from the camp would also participate in the Republic Day parade for which training had been started. Events such as dance, singing and dramatics were also organised. Eminent medico professional Dr Thind addressed a special seminar on eye and body donation.

Commanding Officer Col Sandeep Kumar said “The aim of the camp was to give experience in team work and generate values of self –discipline and integrity in order to cultivate the art of leadership and make cadets understand their responsibility towards the society and Nation.”

Adm. Officer Lt. Col Amit Dutta said efforts were also undertaken by the NCC towards career counselling and skill building with the aim to make the youth of the region self-reliant. The NCC cadets are being exposed to various facets of life full of passion and love for the Nation and to ensure that they are confident and skilled individuals ready to contribute for development of our nation and also support themselves. The cadets were awarded with medals at the closing ceremony.
