Unlike every year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced to conduct the compartment exams for Classes X and XII students from July 2 onwards.

In an official notification, released on its website, the Board has directed all students and schools affiliated to the CBSE that instead of conducting examinations from the third week of July, this year the dates have been preponed to July 2.Besides, the date-sheet would be communicated shortly.

Students who want to reappear in the compartment exams need to contact their respective schools to apply for the exams. The examinations are for candidates who have failed in one of the five subjects conducted by the board.

DAV school principal Rashmi Viz informed that this year, the results of the Board were also announced earlier as compared to previous year. Hence, the students would also have enough time to prepare for the exams.

District CBSE coordinator KS Randhawa, said possibly one or two centres would be assigned to conduct the exams in the city and the date sheet, admit cards were likely to be issued before the end of this month.

“Besides, the process for the exams has already begun and the students concerned have started to apply from May 13. The respective CBSE schools are going to submit the lists of students who are going to appear for the compartment exams by May 22,” he added.

Randhawa said: “If students fail to apply for the compartment exams, then they will have to pay a late fee of Rs 300. The last date to apply with late fee is June 5. Students can download the same from the official website of the CBSE cbse.nic.in.
