Emergence of online food delivery gains momentum

The city these days has started witnessing a flock of food delivery boys on motorbikes labeled with Swiggy or Zomato. In today’s urban structure, it has become convenient for the consumers to order food online rather than cook at home or step out in search of food.

Since instant gratification is what the customers, especially the youngsters had been looking for, they order food online through portals or applications. It not only provides clarity with regard to price, but also provide ample choice and user-friendly interface, which the consumers adore. There has been an aggressive growth in the number of online food delivery applications. Looking at this trend, almost every leading restaurant, café and even dhaba in the city has tied up with these food delivery portals to generate more revenues.

Keeping in mind the consumer satisfaction, Zomato seems to be leading all other food delivery portals such as Deliver my Diet, Food Panda and Swiggy.

Another resident Kamaljit Kaur, who is a housewife said, “When different variety of food is just a call away, why go out and waste the fuel. We instead prefer to order food online where we not only get food as per our taste, but also have the choice of ordering it from our favourite restaurant.

Prabhat Rana, general manager of about four restaurants said, “Tying up with online delivery applications has increased his monthly revenue by 25-30 per cent.
