The body of the forest range officer Vijay Kumar, (who went missing on August 5) recovered from the forest on Thursday, was handed over to the kin after post-mortem. According to his relatives, the funeral will be performed only after Vijay Kumar’s eldest son comes back from Canada. He’s expected to be back by Saturday.

The postmortem was conducted under the supervision of the medical Board based on 3 doctors on Friday afternoon.

On Friday, Vijay Kumar’s family members termed it as a planned murder and refuted the police’s claims of it being suicide case. They alleged that the body was planted in the forest after murder. They also claimed that some of the family members had already searched for him in the area two days ago, from where his body was recovered yesterday.

The doctors said the viscera has been sent for investigation to state laboratory and only after receiving the final reports, the reason for the death can be disclosed. According to sources, there were no serious external or internal injury marks on the body of the deceased during the postmortem.

Meanwhile president Punjab Kumhar Mahasangh, Pawan Prajapat, Om Prakash Vice president and Hoshiarpur Prajapat Samaj Leader Jaspal Singh Keeva have warned that if the matter was not properly disclosed by a high-level fair investigation, the Prajapat community would start a state-level agitation.
