Four masked robbers loot cash at gunpoint from liquor vend workers

Four masked miscreants robbed cash at gunpoint from workers of a liquor contractor on Sutehari Road here late on Saturday night.

The workers were returning after collecting the cash of the day’s sale from liquor vends. After stopping the car in which the workers were travelling in, the robbers executed the crime in just two minutes and escaped on motorcycles.

The police reached the spot after getting information. In the statement given to the city police, Shashikant, alias Raja, a resident of the Committee Bazaar area here, said after collecting the money from liquor vends, he was going in a car. When they reached Sutehari Road, a motorcyclist, coming from the rear side overtook his vehicle and signalled him to stop the car. As they stopped the vehicle, two masked robbers came in front of the car and another two came from a side and brandished a pistol at them.

The complainant had alleged that robbers took away the bag, which was full of money, at gunpoint and fled towards the government college.

Provincial DSP-cum-SHO Manpreet Sheenhamar told the media that the complainant had not mentioned the exact amount which was looted by the robbers and had said he would give the details later.

According to police sources, the looted money was around Rs 6 lakh. The police were checking the CCTV camera, footage of houses and shops around the spot.
