Free eye surgeries conducted in city

JALANDHAR: A free eye check-up camp was organised at SHC Aman Nagar on Thursday, while free eye surgeries of all those patients who were diagnosed with various eye diseases during the camp were conducted today at the eye mobile unit.

A free eye check-up camp was organised at SHC Aman Nagar on Thursday, while free eye surgeries of all those patients who were diagnosed with various eye diseases during the camp were conducted today at the eye mobile unit.

As many as 113 patients visited the camp and were given free consultation. In the camp, five patients were diagnosed with cataract and 37 with refraction cases.

It was organised under the supervision of Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga. Dr Harish Bhardwaj was the chief organiser of the camp. It was attended by other doctors from the district, including Dr Arun Verma, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, Dr Harish Bhardwaj, Ranjit, Seema , Tejinder and Tilakraj.

Dr Bhardwaj said the camp was organised to draw attention towards blindness and vision impairment ailments among residents. Free treatment was being offered so that people who could not afford treatment could avail the facilities and get rid of their ailments.

He said: 'We celebrated the second Thursday of October as World Sight Day with an aim to making people aware of various eye diseases and infections.
