In the yesterday’s incident in which two foreign students had a miraculous escape after the Maruti car in which they were travelling caught fire near the Rama Mandi area, no foul play has come to light.

The police confirmed that the car was owned by the foreign students and it accidentally caught fire while they were driving on the Rama Mandi flyover.

Earlier, the police had been suspecting foul play as the foreigners had fled from the spot immediately after the car caught fire. The police was also suspecting that as the foreigners had fled from the spot, the car might have been stolen by them.

The Rama Mandi police station officials said the foreigners had been identified and they had also appeared at the police station, where they claimed that they had purchased that car just 10 days ago.

“While we were driving at a slow pace, suddenly smoke started billowing out of the car and in a few minutes, the car caught fire,” one of them told the police, which said that the foreigners were students of a local university.
