To ensure that nothing goes wrong during the polling of the last phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections tomorrow, the city as well as rural police commissionerate have devised a detailed security arrangement plan in the district. The city police today held a meeting with all security officers and briefed them over security arrangements during the poll.

To ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the district, around 7,000 security personnel would keep a strict vigil on the poll day.

As many as 768 Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) personnel along with 1,810 Punjab Police personnel would be deployed in the jurisdiction of the City Police Commissionerate and around 3,839 personnel comprising 883 from the CAPF and 2,966 district rural police personnel will be deployed in the jurisdiction of the rural police.

CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar had notified that 12 companies of the CPMF, including the BSF, CRPF, ITBP and RPF, would be deployed. Joint teams of the CPMF and the Punjab Police would also be deployed round-the-clock at 123 nakas across the city. DCP Parambir Singh Parmar said people on noticing any suspicious activity could also register their complaints on the control room numbers 112 and 110. — TNS
