Leaders of the Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha and SSA/RMSA Teachers’ Union today met Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Suresh Kumar. Union leaders claimed that the Chief Principal Secretary would discuss their issue with the Chief Minister (CM).

Hardeep Todarpur, co-convener of the morcha, said: "Kumar listened to our problems and said he would study the issues in detail and convey the same to the CM in a day or two."

Meanwhile, the Chief Principal Secretary has also scheduled the meeting of the union members with the CM on November 5.

Todarpur said the members of the union, showing the required documents to Kumar, said teachers under different societies, cadres and other groups despite clearing TET and serving for over 10 years had not been regularised. Therefore, offering regularisation on a meagre salary of Rs 15,300 makes no logic. “If the Chief Minister feels that the regularisation of services at full pay scale will burden the state exchequer, then the teachers are ready to accept it at the last withdrawn pay, which is Rs 42,800, for three years.”

Declaring that the protest of teachers, who are sitting on fast-unto-death in Patiala will continue till the day the department assures them of regularisation on the same pay scale.

Todarpur threatened to intensify their stir, saying that if the meeting with the CM on November 5 remains unfruitful, they will start a 'jail bharo andolan'. The Education Department had issued a warning, stating that no case will be considered for regularisation after October 23, which is the last date to opt for regularisation at a monthly salary of Rs 15,300.

Todarpur said: “In the notification, issued by the department, it has not been mentioned that the cases for regularisation will not be accepted after October 23.”

“Kumar has assured that though he cannot help in extending the date, but there will be a solution for the teachers who have not accepted the option by today and all teachers will be regularised,” he added.
