Truck driver killed

Phagwara: A truck driver was killed on the spot when another truck rammed into his truck on Sarai Road on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Amarjit Singh, a resident of Johal village. The police have registered a case under Section 304-A of the IPC and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. OC

1 booked for abduction

Phagwara: On a complaint filed by Raj Kumar and his wife Ganga Devi, both residents of Chahal Nagar locality, the police have registered a case against Dharminder Singh alias Munna, a native of Madhya Pradesh, under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC on the charge of abducting the minor daughter of the complainants on the pretext of marrying her. No arrest has been made so far. OC

Bid to loot bank failed

Phagwara: Some unidentified miscreants made an unsuccessful attempt to loot The Kapurthala Central Co-Operative Bank, located at Urban Estate area, here on Tuesday night. The Phagwara Superintendent of the Police Mandeep Singh said the miscreants broke open the locks of the shutter of the bank but could not enter the bank. A case under Sections 457,380 and 511 of the IPC has been registered. OC
