Youths from 13 states showcase talent

JALANDHAR: To strengthen unity in diversity among youths of 13 states, a National Integration Camp started with scintillating folk dance performances by youths at Lyallpur Khalsa College yesterday.

To strengthen unity in diversity among youths of 13 states, a National Integration Camp started with scintillating folk dance performances by youths at Lyallpur Khalsa College yesterday.

The ground of the college became a mini-India after the youths from 13 states amicably showcased the rich cultural diversity of the country through folk dance and disseminated the message ‘’Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’’. The camp was inaugurated by Secretary Youth Affairs GOI Upma Chawdhary, Additional Chief Secretary Youth Affairs Punjab Sanjay Kumar and Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma.

Addressing the gathering, Secretary Youth Affairs Government of India Upma Chawdhary said the national integration camp instils the feeling of ‘’Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’’ and promotes solidarity among the youths by bridging the cultural and geographical barriers.

“The camp also gives the youths a major platform to discuss their cultural traditions, social aspects and get exposure by exchanging ideas with their counterparts from other states,” she added.

Sanjay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Youth Affairs, Punjab, thanked the Centrl Government for choosing Punjab, particularly Jalandhar, for holding the camp and asked the youth to enjoy the warm hospitality of Punjabis, here during their stay at the camp.

Jalandhar DC Varinder Kumar Sharma welcomed the youth and said: “ A total of 250 youths from 13 states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Delhi are participating in the camp.
