On the occasion of National Remote Sensing Day-2018, a national workshop on ‘Popularisation of remote sensing amongst school children’ was jointly organised by the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) and Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana.
Based on theme ‘Remote Sensing - What and Why’, the day is marked to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Vikram Sarabhai, father of Indian space programme.
Students from 24 schools participated in drawing competition. Dr Brijendra Pateriya, Director, PRSC, and Janmeja Singh Johl, artist and writer awarded winners.
Three top nominations have been sent to the ISRS, Dehradun, to compete at national level. The first, second and third prize were bagged by Sacred Heart Convent School, GGN Public School and Guru Nanak International Public School, respectively.
Dr Pateriya who was the chief guest highlighted the importance of remote sensing technology and its applications in various fields. The Guest of Honour Johl motivated students to inculcate skills for developing art.
