Ludhiana, August 16

After the bodies of two brothers were found floating in the Sidhwan Canal on August 14, the kin, suspecting murder, gathered outside a mosque in Sunet village and demanded the arrest of the persons involved behind the crime on Thursday.

Notably, the bodies of two brothers Mohd Sariz (11) and Mohd Tabrez (13) were found floating in a canal near Badewal on August 14.

Members of the Muslim community gathered in large numbers and held a protest today. It was only after the Sarabha Nagar police assured a thorough probe in the matter that protesters calmed down. However, the kin warned that if the killers were not arrested in a few days, they would again come on roads.

Deceased’s father Mohd Bilal said the police claimed that the boys drowned and were not murdered. “I had an old enmity with one of my relatives and it could be possible that they kidnapped my sons and then murdered them. If the police interrogate them, the mystery behind deaths could unfold,” he said.

SHO Sarabha Nagar police station Brij Mohan said the police have questioned Sahil and Imran, friends of the deceased, and they said the deceased used to go to Sidhwan Canal to take bath always and on August 13 also, they asked them to accompany them to the canal for a bath, but they refused. Even the postmortem report cleared that the boys died due to drowning.
