Doraha Congress leaders and workers were in a jubilant mood today when their candidate Dr Amar Singh won from the Fatehgarh Sahib constituency by defeating Darbara Singh Guru of SAD by a huge margin of 93,621 votes.

MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli and MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha, along with a huge crowd of party leaders and workers, thanked the people of Doraha as they assembled at Beant Singh Chowk to celebrate the victory of Dr Amar Singh.

“Villagers have turned out to be the wisest voters throughout India, I believe. They have voted for what is just, right and appropriate and have refused to be swayed unthinkably by the Modi wave. They have duly respected the contribution and efforts made by Capt Amarinder Singh as Chief Minister,” MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli said.

“It was bound to happen,” stated the elated party leader, Lakhvir Singh Lakha.

“The electorate has also given a befitting reply to all other parties, especially the momentary ones, which failed to influence and effect their decision,” he said.

“Power is nobody’s personal property. It is bestowed upon the party by the people and taken away by the people,” said Municipal Council chief Bant Singh Daburjee, a senior Congress leader.

The Congress workers termed it to be the victory of righteousness and democracy as they said the voters had ignored the country-wide wave and exercised their right to franchise in favour of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and his leaders.

Municipal Council chief Bant Singh Daburjee, former chief Sudarshan Kumar Pappu, Bobby Tiwari and Javir Singh Daumajara were chiefly among those, who congratulated Dr Amar Singh, MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli and MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha on the victory.

The winning candidate, Dr Amar Singh, thanked Capt Amarinder Singh, the halka in-charges, workers and leaders for giving him the opportunity and supporting him.

He also thanked the voters of Fatehgarh Sahib constituency. He said he would leave no stone unturned to stand by his people.
