Boy jumps into water tank, rescued by police

LUDHIANA: A police team saved the life of a 14-year-old Nepali boy who climbed on a water tank and jumped into a 20-feet empty tank, near Ishmeet Chowk, Model Town, to catch pigeons. The boy has been identified as Sham.

A police team saved the life of a 14-year-old Nepali boy who climbed on a water tank and jumped into a 20-feet empty tank, near Ishmeet Chowk, Model Town, to catch pigeons. The boy has been identified as Sham.

His friend, who accompanied him, informed the tubewell operator and ran away. On receiving the information from the Police Control Room, ACP, Civil Lines, Dharam Paul along with his team immediately reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

The boy got injured and was unable to climb the rope. He was supplied water and Red Bull for energy in a water tank.

A fan belt was used tied with a rope to bring out the boy. It was a risky and adventurous operation where two policemen did a good job to pull the boy from the height of about 200-feet tank roof.

After one-and-a-half hour operation, the boy was saved and sent to the Civil Hospital. 

Head Constable Ranjit Singh and Constable Bhupinder Singh did a really good job under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
