CBSE’s green, clean drive kicks off

LUDHIANA: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked school heads to observe “Swachhata Pakhwada” from September 1 to 15 and Mission Green Schools till August 17.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked school heads to observe “Swachhata Pakhwada” from September 1 to 15 and Mission Green Schools till August 17.

The CBSE affiliated schools will organise activities, including Swachhata Shapath Day, Swachhata Awareness Day, Green School Drive, Swachhata Participation Day, Hand Wash Day, Personal Hygiene Day, Community Participation Day, Swachhata School Exhibition Day, Swachh Water Day, Water Harvesting Day and Letter Writing Day.

In another directive issued by the board, it has proposed to plant trees and celebrate “Prakriti Mahotsav” in all the schools till August 17. Each school will plant 11 saplings of native species and each tree will be named after a martyr.

Many schools have started tree plantation drive on the lines of CBSE. Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Pakhowal Road, organised a tree plantation drive at its campus under mission green schools initiated by the board. Students planted saplings in various parts of the school and took a pledge to take care of these plants.
