In this social world, juveniles are always engrossed in their gadgets, clicking selfies and uploading same picture on Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram. This can sometimes turn into a tragedy, when one crosses his/her limit. Parents can guide their children as far as clicking slefies are concerned. Also, teachers can create awareness that taking a selfie is okay but giving your life for it, is a huge cost of clicking one. Even seminars can be conducted in the city by the government or NGOs to educate the youngsters on how to use the modern technology in an orderly fashion.

People should value life

For some people clicking selfies on every occasion has become a need of the hour. In past, many people have lost their lives due to their obsession. A must action should be taken up by the government officials and bodies which will impose a ban on clicking selfies in the areas which can put life in danger. Public should also understand that safety is much important than endangering their lives in capturing a scenic beauty.

Take group photos

Many youngsters take selfies on hilly areas to capture scenic views to keep as a sweet memory. Clicking selfies at such places is risky because such people are not only putting their lives in danger but of others as well. I feel, instead of taking a selfie, youngsters must take a group. Life is a precious gift given by the God. So, enjoy your life.

Government needs to step in

Today, selfies have become a medium of self-representation in the society. India is on the top with maximum rate of ‘selfie deaths’. First of all, certain ‘Safe selfie campaigns’ should be conducted by NGO’S. State and Central level governments should also step in by enlisting a few ‘No Selfie Zones’ in every state. Warning sign boards should be installed in various restricted areas. Various laws, norms and punishments should be introduced by the government regarding this subject. Schools and colleges can introduce this topic for essays, speech, debate competitions or group discussions to spread awareness about it. Selfie deaths data and statistics should be presented before the public. And at last but not the least, people should also have some sense. They should conduct self-analysis before taking any kind of risk and they should realise the importance of their lives and also their responsibilities towards their family and society.

‘No-selfie zones’ should be recognised

The zones which are the most vulnerable or dangerous for selfies should be recognised and specified. People should not be allowed to take phone and cameras to the ‘No Selfie Zones’. Strict check should be exercised. People should be made aware about the ‘No Selfie Zones’ and about the strict actions which would be taken against them if they do not follow the rules. Heavy fines and confiscation of phones can be the punishments. Selfies should just be a sweet memory, but not a last clicked photograph.

Organise seminars to create awareness

Selfie’s are becoming common among youngsters. It is okay to click a selfie occasionally. Nowadays, deaths due to selfies are becoming common. India has the highest rate of selfie deaths in the world. We have to make awareness among people regarding this problem. There should be seminars to create awareness among people. Governments also need to take a step to control this problem. Selfies are not important, but the life is. Don’t let selfies rule your mind. Enjoy each and every moment of life!

Educational institutes can curb this menace

Selfie is becoming a common accidental death phenomenon among young men and women. This is taking place more near water bodies such as canals, railway tracks, hill tops and such other scenic spots. Parents can play a positive role in continuously reminding their wards to be careful when they go out with their mobile cameras in company of friends. Further, a strong awareness programme must be undertaken by different agencies, including the local civic bodies. So, the public should be careful while taking selfies near vulnerable spots. Also, seminars for the students in schools and colleges can control this menace.

Dr G Dev

Selfies can be used for trolling

An occasional selfie seems okay, but it should not be a part of daily routine. Selfies are clicked to capture personal and sweet memories. Selfies may give a few likes on the social media, but the quest for a ‘dramatic’ photo can also jeopardise your lives and the people around you. Therefore, it is necessary to have safety while clicking the selfies. Sometimes, many people use selfies of other users as a joke and make fun of them by bullying or trolling these on social media.

Govt should declare ‘No-selfie zones’

People love to take selfies, but this can prove fatal. Many people die every year while clicking selfies on cliffs and dangerous spots. But there are many ways to stop these deaths. If you can’t resist taking a selfie, then make sure you are at the side of a road, rather than in the middle of it. Cops must deploy to watch over the people. There is a need to increase the CCTV coverage to reduce the risk. Similarly, parents should set boundaries and limits on children. A government should also declare ‘No Selfie Zone’.

Parents, schools and college can play vital role

Nowadays, youths have obsession of taking selfies. They like posting every moment of their life on social media. Sometimes, while uploading selfies on social media platforms we also post our personal information unknowingly. This can result to cyber crime as well. I feel parents, schools and colleges should make aware the students regarding the negative sides of taking selfies.

Impose heavy fine

We all love taking selfies. I am not saying that taking a selfie is an offence, but no one should go beyond his or her limits. Youngsters do not know the consequences of taking selfies at dangerous places, and this sometimes, can become a nightmare for them. I think there must be a ‘restricted selfie zone’ on mountain cliffs, railway tracks, near lakes or rivers. People who are caught taking selfies, a heavy fine should be imposed on them to teach a lesson. Also, parents and teachers should educated the youngsters about negative sides of taking selfies. Life is a gift! Don’t jeopardise life while in taking selfies.

Abhilasha Singh

Penalise those taking selfies at ‘no-selfie zones’

People love taking selfies. However, their love for taking selfies can turn out to be fatal. As many as 127 people have lost their lives in attempts while taking selfies in the last two years, of which India has reported the maximum deaths. The ‘selfie-addicted’ generation witnessed 76 deaths in the country. We can stop such deaths by establishing “No Selfie Zones”. If anyone caught clicking selfies in non-prohibited areas, then he/she should be punished with heavy fine. Selfie-related injuries and deaths have been increased in the last years.

Harkirat Singh

Counselling must for children

Selfies have claimed many lives. A study found that between March 2014 and September 2016, as many as 60% of ‘selfie deaths’ occured in India only. These deaths are more in number among youngsters or teenagers. Counselling session among kids is very important and it should broadly cover points such as proper use of mobile phones. Onus lies on kids as well as they should listen to their parents and should know when to use a cell phone and when to take a selfie.

Darshleen

Should know when and where to take selfies

The craze for selfies can be seen almost everywhere among youths. They are addicted of taking selfies. It distracts their concentration and results in accidental deaths. The educational institutions should discourage this thing. Taking selfies is not a bad thing. But I feel, one must know when and where to take selfies. This is for their betterment and for the sake of their family.

Deepnayan Kaur

People should avoid clicking selfies

The quest to capture a selfie shot on bizarre locations, nowadays, has been reached to heights. In a bid to address the issue, drastic measures should be taken to reduce selfie-related risks. The Central Government should introduce projects and a number of restrictive regulations to encourage safe use of smart phones. Besides, there is a need to assess dangerous consequences of taking selfies from various points of view. The government should also develop “No-selfie Zones” at tourist attractions around the country. However, if we keep aside government remedies to curb the issue, then maturity of an individual is a better option to avoid fatal accidents.

Ravi Chander Garg

Actors should not promote selfie phones

This issue is becoming complex day by day. Everyday someone or the other is losing life to this very hare brain idea to shoot a selfie under difficult situations. Mostly, youngsters are seen taking such pictures who want to post their pictures on social media. Parents, teachers must educate their children against taking selfies. Actors also should not endorse mobiles that promote selfies. No picture is worth that it becomes your last picture and leaves your family devastated.

Major Gurdeep S Samra(Retd)

Special sessions must against selfies

Technology has brought a revolution in the contemporary world, along with some demerits as well. Camera is one of the biggest features which are being used by many of us. The urge of taking a selfie is high in youths. Some people are addicted of taking selfies and that they never bother about place when it comes to taking slfies. This is one of the reasons that accidental deaths high. To curb this menace, there should be special sessions for people who click selfies.

Dr Mohd Saleem Farooqui

Click selfies with safety

One of the positive points of having a smartphone is that one can access to emails and social network sites accounts. But the recent phenomenon of posting selfies and videos is really dangerous .Taking selfies is not a wrong trend, but putting one’s life into danger for getting the highest number of likes and comments is catastrophic. Some people do not even fear to take selfies near water bodies and high mountains. People need to be enlightened that nothing is precious than their lives. Selfies are for fun. So, keep clicking selfies, but safely.

Bir Devinder Singh Bedi

Educational institutions should make efforts

Nowadays, for many young people taking a selfie is importantg. Recently, two 15-year-old children died on a railway track while taking a selfie. This is the serious problem among school and college going students. So, this problem should be addressed at school and college level. Educational institutions must arrange a lecture every week against taking selfies. They must create awareness among the students that life is short and they should concentrate over other important things to do. Parents, especially mothers, should be careful while using mobile phones in front of their kids, after all, we imitate what we see. Teachers and parents are most influential persons in students’ lives. So, their joint efforts can be helpful in solving this issue.

Ritu Priya

MC should come forward

In this digital era, youths often put their lives in risk to take selfies. They ignore all danger levels and try for selfies, which often turns out to be fatal. It’s high time that we should declare a war against unsafe selfies. The MCs should install boards declaring ‘No Selfie Zone’ and ‘Safe Selfie Zone’ on various places. There is a need for teachers and parents to join their hands and make the youngsters realise that nothing is more precious than their lives. Living a moment fully is more important than capturing it. There is no fun of losing one’s life in a quest of adventurous pictures.

Vakita

Value family, not selfies

Youngsters want their selfie to create a buzz on social media and garner maximum appreciation in the form of likes, shares and comments. In their search for the best picture, they don’t shy away from taking risks which sometimes prove fatal. Many youngsters perform death defying stunts which cost them their life. They should behave responsibly on railway tracks, rivers, high-rise buildings and other risky places where these accidents usually occur. They should understand that their families have as much right over their life as they have and if their selfie goes wrong, then their loved ones will have to bear irreparable loss. Besides, boards mentioning high risk should be displayed on the places where selfie related accidents have happened in the past. In this way, these freak accidents which cause so much pain can be avoided in future.
