Married youth working as granthi commits suicide

Machhiwara, May 22

A married youth, who worked as a granthi in a gurdwara, allegedly committed suicide under mysterious circumstances by consuming some poisonous substance near here.

The deceased has been identified as Khazan Singh, (25) a resident of Machian Kalan village here. Surjit Singh, father of the deceased said his son Khazan was performing his duty as a granthi in a gurdwara at Pirthipur village and had married about 4 years ago in Shatabgarh village. He had two minor children.

Surjit Singh said on Monday, Khazan’s son got ill and he took his child to a private hospital in Machiwara. Later, he along with his wife and children went to his in law’s house in Shatabgarh village. Yesterday, Khazan Singh’s wife rang him up and said that he was quarrling with her.

Later Surjit got to know that his son was lying uncounscious at bus stand of adhiana village. He along with the help of others rushed his son to a private hospital at Machhiwara, but his son died there as he had consumed some poisonous substances.

After the death of Khazan, his father expressed some foul play into his death and alleged that the death of his son occurred due to some brawl with his wife but later the matter was resolved amicably As per SHO Machhiwara Ramaninder Singh, no case has been registered in this regard and his body has been handed over to his guardians after post mortem. — OC
