Ludhiana, August 16

A 45-year-old migrant was hacked to death at his residence in Durga Colony, Dhandari. The deceased has been identified as Mukesh, a native of Bihar. He has left behind his wife and five children, including two boys and three girls.

SHO, Focal Point police station, Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar said the incident came to fore in the morning, when the deceased’s wife went upstairs to wake him up. They found him in a pool of blood.

Deceased’s wife Sangeeta told the police that her husband runs a provisional store in the house. Last night, he slept in the open on the first floor, while she and her five children slept in the room on the ground floor. “Around 7 am, when I went upstairs with my daughter to wake him up, we were shocked to see him lying in a pool of blood. He had severe injury marks on his face and head. I immediately raised an alarm and called nearby residents and the police. Last night, he went to sleep upstairs around 10 pm. We did not hear any disturbance at night and we don’t even have any enmity with anyone,” she said.

The SHO said some sharp weapon was used to kill Mukesh and the police were working on various angles to crack the case.— TNS
