A day after the BJP outperformed opponents in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said had the Opposition parties contested the elections by highlighting actual issues, including unemployment, farmers’s distress, inflation, black money, GST and women security, among others, the results would have been different.

He said the Opposition targeted PM Modi instead of raising actual issues and that is the reason why the voters rejected the former.

Sanjay was in Ludhiana on Friday to appear before the court in a hearing related to defamation case.

He said, “We respect the verdict of the people. We hope that PM Modi will work for the development and welfare of all. If the government fails to fulfill its promises, it is the  responsibility of the Opposition to get the promises fulfilled.”

He said, “Sadhvi Pragya had commented that Nathuram Godse is a ‘patriot’. She had passed defamatory comments about martyr Hemant Karkare. She has won the election. Should such a person be sent to the Parliament? How will Modi tolerate such person sitting next to him? Why is she still in the BJP?”

He said, “The AAP’s performance in Punjab is satisfactory. Bhagwant Mann has won from Sangrur. We have also got a good number of votes on a few other seats. Now, the AAP will work hard for the 2022 Assembly polls.”
