The common people and farmers are facing a lot of inconvenience while bringing their crop for procurement at the local grain market during the coming wheat season because the main link road connecting the grain market with the villages from two sides has been in a shambles. The farmers and drivers of other vehicles used in transportation of wheat are bound to face a lot of problems in case the road is not constructed soon.

This road has been in a poor condition for a long time. It also happens to be the main approaching road to the local grain market for most of the villages. It is unfortunate that the road has not been constructed for a long time. The residents living in the residential localities situated on Sherpur Road, Jagraon, have also been facing a lot of inconvenience due to utterly bad condition of the road. There are countless pits on the road and it is uneven at several places.

According to the area residents, the road has not been constructed for a long period of time, therefore, it has become dusty. The residents said they had raised the issue with the authorities several times during the past but nothing had been done to improve the condition of the road so far.

“This road was last constructed around three years back, but the road broke from many places only after a few months. Dust keeps flying all the time on the road due to poor condition of the road. The authorities seem to have turned a blind eye towards the problems faced by us and nothing is being done to improve the condition of this road despite our repeated demands,” said Manjit Khaira, a resident of Sherpur Road.

The authorities of the Jagraon Market Committee say the construction work of this road would be carried out soon. “We are going to start the construction work of this road soon and the work would be completed before the start of coming wheat season,” said Jagraon Market Committee Secretary Gurmatpal Singh Gill.
