Speakers stress on building drug-free society

Ludhiana, August 14

On the eve of Independence Day, an inter-college declamation contest was held on Tuesday on the theme “Drug Abuse: Say yes to life and no to drugs” at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.

Participants from 10 different colleges of the city participated in the contest and spoke elaborately on the nuisance of drug abuse. They strongly spoke about the prevalence of drug abuse in the country, particularly in the state of Punjab. All speakers stressed on building drug-free society so that many lives can be saved.

President of the DMC Youth Club Nandisha Gupta acknowledged the active participation of all speakers in spreading awareness about drug menace in the country. Shivam from Kamla Lohtia Sanatan Dharam College was declared the winner, while Harsimrat Chawla from SCD Government College, Ludhiana, and Harnoor from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, won second and third prizes, respectively.

IAP Paediatric Quiz

The college round of IAP Paediatric Quiz for undergraduate batches was also held at Dumra Auditorium. The undergraduate students of various MBBS batches participated to showcase their knowledge and interest in the field of paediatrics.

Dr Puneet Aulakh Pooni, Professor and Head of Pediatrics, addressed the gathering of students and faculty members present on occasion. Dr Deepak Bhat, Professor of Paediatrics, who conducted the quiz, said conducting of such quiz contests enhance the knowledge of participants and audience as well.

Five different teams participated in the quiz competition. There were six different rounds based on different areas of childhood diseases. Shivansh Aggarwal and Kanish Aggarwal of MBBS batch (2014) were declared winners.
