City child artiste to participate in international modelling contest

Adding another feather in his cap, city-based child artiste Amitojdeep Singh Basra, alias Ammy, a Class IV student of MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, will be representing India in the Mr and Miss Diamond International, a modelling contest to be held in Australia on April 15 and 16.

A resident of the Industrial Area, 10-year-old Ammy is a born star. In this age when children reel under study pressure, he has achieved many titles in various fashion shows and talent hunts. He has featured in a TV advertisement of Liberty of which he is a brand ambassador in the state. Besides, he has worked in a Punjabi movie, “Gangster vs State”.

Ammy enjoys every bit of his time when in front of the camera. Stating Diljit Dosanjh as his inspiration, he says his only dream is to meet the Punjabi singer-turned-actor and be like him in the future.

An all-rounder, Ammy is passionate about modelling and acting and has been a two-time winner of the Mr Jalandhar title, Dream Bollywood model winner 2019 and has won Global Talented Star Award 2019 in Chandigarh. He has also participated in the Indian Mathematics Olympiad and has won silver and bronze medals. He says that his experience in various competitions gives him confidence to face the camera. Ammy has also won Shan-e-Punjab 2018, a Punjab fashion week title.

“It is my first international modelling event. I applied for it online, and after going through three-four stages, finally after waiting for almost four months, my profile has been selected,” said Ammy. He said he was all prepared and looking forward to bring home another title of Mr Diamond.

He was given the Star of the Year award by Mona Lisa in Delhi last year during a modelling event and has been a King of Fashion winner 2019. Informing about his journey so far, he said: “It becomes difficult sometimes as I have to travel for events and maintain a balance between the school and the work. Though I want to be a big actor like Diljit and make my name in the Punjabi film industry, I feel it is a good start that matters and have learned how to balance my schedule well.”

“I have been doing modelling for the past two years and I thank my mentor Princy Seth of Just Dance and Fitness Studio for working on me and making me what I am. Every time I perform, it gives me a kick to pursue my passion further to the next level,” said Ammy, son of a gym owner, Rajdeep Singh Basra.

Her mother Mandeep Kaur said it was her dream to see her son become another Diljit Dosanjh. She said his son had been participating in various events in the school and elsewhere since his childhood days.

“I feel proud and would love to see him make his career in the field of modelling and acting,” she said.
