Scintillating performances by Padma Shri awardees Shovana Narayan and Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan marked the third day of the heritage festival on Monday. Presented at the Qila Mubarak, the Sitar Vaadan by Shahid Parvez Khan left the audience spellbound.

Ustad Shahid played raag bhim palasi and was accompanied by Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha, a disciple of Pandit Gopi Kant Jha, on tabla.

Shovana Narayan along with the troupe presented the dance drama Noorjahan on the lyrics ‘Teri Nazar Se Jab Koi Jaam Piya Maine’ through Kathak. They depicted the love between Noorjahan and Jahangir through dance along the lines of ‘Mein Tere Angon Ka Vaibhav’.

The performance depicted emotions witnessed on the occasion of marriage. The song and dance performance on Amir Khusro’s ‘Bahut Rahi Babul Ghar Dulhan Chal Tere Pi Ney Bulayi’ showed the emotions of friends and family when a bride leaves her house.

The dance steps along the lines of ‘Dono Bhaye Ek Rang’, ‘Aaj Rang Hey Maa Rang Hai Ri’ showed the Husband-Wife union. The performance concluded with the depiction of Queen Noorjahan through ‘tarana’.
