Dengue vaccine alone won’t help
The vaccine may have limited impact if it remains expensive, poorly targeted or inaccessible.

There was a time when malaria was the mosquito-borne disease most Indians feared. Dengue, by contrast, was once considered less common and threatening. That has changed dramatically. Over the past two decades, dengue has spread rapidly across India and elsewhere. It is now a familiar cause of fever, hospitalisation and death, particularly during and after the monsoon. Yet, unlike malaria, for which effective medicines exist, dengue has no specific antiviral treatment.
