Siswan to be tourism hub

CHANDIGARH: The state government has approved a plan to develop Siswan and its surrounding forest areas in the Shivalik foothills on the outskirts of Chandigarh as an eco-tourism hub.

The state government has approved a plan to develop Siswan and its surrounding forest areas in the Shivalik foothills on the outskirts of Chandigarh as an eco-tourism hub.

An official spokesperson said the project would be set up under the PPP mode. It would be spread in 12.5 acre forest area and have a 6.5-km trek from the Irrigation Department guest house at Siswan dam to the Mirzapur forest rest house.

It would also have facilities such as a cafeteria, water sports, eco-huts and a nature trail/trek. It would also have recreational and entertainment facilities, including a kids corner, bird watching spots and rappelling (climbing skill) options.

The work on the project would begin immediately after getting approval from the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
