The city traffic police have chalked out a traffic diversion plan for the smooth flow of traffic in view of Lord Jagannath rath yatra to be taken out in city on Saturday.
While releasing the traffic diversion plan, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Harinderjit Singh and Assistant Commissioner of Police Richa Agnihotri said the rath yatra would start from Durga mata temple near Jagraon Bridge on Saturday at 12 noon and reach Durga mata temple at Sarabha Nagar after crossing the Fountain Chowk, Ghumar Mandi, Arti Chowk, Malhar Chowk , PAU Gate Number 2 and Sarabha Nagar late evening.
According to the plan, the traffic from Chandigarh Road would cross from Cheema Chowk, Atam Park Chowk towards Dugri and Pakhowal Road to move towards Moga.
The vehicles from the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) towards Ferozepur road would be diverted towards the Pakhowal Road, Phullanwal Chowk, Lodhi Club underpass and then Ferozepur Road.
Heavy vehicles from the Ferozepur Road side towards Delhi and Chandigarh city would move from Lodhi Club underpass crossing, Pakhowal road and take the route via Southern Bypass.
Light vehicles from the Ferozepur Road would take the route of Deepak Hospital Road and reach the destination via crossing the Pakhowal Road. The police have restricted the movement of commercial vehicles in the city from 8 am to 10.30 pm to provide the smooth flow of traffic. The ambulance, fire tenders and emergency vehicles would be exempted from the restricted routes. These vehicles can move without any hurdle from the PAU campus.
